The Wondering Place: A Christian Apologetics Book for Kids

Do Your Kids Ask Big Questions About God? Give Them Answers They Can Trust.

Children are naturally curious. They wonder how we know the Bible is true, why God allows suffering, whether other religions could also be right, and what really happens after we die.

The Wondering Place is a Christian chapter book for kids ages 8–12 designed to answer these questions with clarity, confidence, and a deep sense of God’s love.

A Chapter-by-Chapter Journey Through the Questions Kids Are Already Asking

This 300+ page book includes 37 focused chapters. Each one addresses one important spiritual question children are already wrestling with.

Kids explore topics like:

• Why are there different religions?
• Who is Satan and why is he bad?
• Is it okay to have doubts about God?
• Can God forgive me for anything?
• Why does God allow suffering?
• What happens after we die?
• What will happen when Jesus comes back?

Every chapter builds on the last, helping children develop a strong and thoughtful foundation for what they believe.

What Makes The Wondering Place Different

Most kids’ faith books do one of two things. They either stay very surface-level, or they assume kids can handle adult-level theology.

The Wondering Place was written to sit right in the middle.

It’s a true chapter book that treats kids with respect. It gives clear, Bible-based answers, and it gently introduces the “why” behind the answers using age-appropriate apologetics, history, and real-life application.

That means your child is not only learning what Christians believe. They’re learning why it’s true, and how to live it out.

This book is for:

  • Kids ages 8–12 who are curious, thoughtful, or starting to ask deeper questions

  • Parents who want more than quick answers but still want it explained clearly

  • Families who want a book that works for both independent reading and meaningful discussion

In This Book, Kids Will

In every chapter, children explore one big question about God, the Bible, or the Christian faith in a way that is honest, thoughtful, and firmly grounded in Scripture.

Through this journey, they will:

• Find clear, honest answers to their doubts about God and the Bible
• Explore fascinating historical and archaeological evidence that supports Christianity
• Learn how to think carefully and confidently about big spiritual questions
• Discover that God has a real purpose for their lives and how to live with confidence
• Grow closer to God through prayer, worship, obedience, and everyday faith

Throughout the book, children are encouraged to think deeply, ask sincere questions, and discover that God is not threatened by their curiosity. He welcomes it.

About the Author

Portrait of Jackie Burns, author of The Wondering Place

Jackie Burns is a Christian author and former corporate professional. After following God’s call to step away from her career, she now focuses on apologetics-based discipleship for children and families.

Her journey began when one of her daughters asked a deep theological question she didn’t know how to explain in simple terms. That moment revealed a larger problem: kids are asking big questions, and parents often feel unprepared to respond. Jackie wrote The Wondering Place to help bridge that gap.

Her work blends Scripture, evidence-based Christian apologetics, and child-centered teaching to help young readers build a thoughtful, confident faith. Jackie believes children deserve more than surface-level answers. They deserve explanations that respect their intelligence, address their doubts, and guide them toward a lasting relationship with God.

Jackie’s writing is shaped by her experience as a mother, her background in corporate project management, and personal study in theology and apologetics. Her approach blends structure with warmth, and truth with gentleness.

Through her work, Jackie hopes to help children grow in confidence and deepen their faith. Not through blind faith, but through understanding, reason, and a relationship with the Lord that will last a lifetime.
